Kayla has a lead speaking role at her 3rd grade school play. She enjoyed practicing and preparing for her debut. The event was attended by 500 parents.

Kayla attends an "autograph signing" with fellow actress Daniella (Irasema Martinez) at a promotional event this weekend. Director Baldemar Rodriguez promoted the movie in anticipation of summer screenings planned for 2008. This feature film begins shooting in February 2008, with a planned showing at Sundance in 2009 and other key festivals.

"El Nacional" Movie Bootcamp in Galveston - Moody Gardens

Kayla goes on location at Moody Gardens (Galveston, TX) with her movie brothers and sisters (The Martinez's), for the feature film "El Nacional", directed by Baldemar Rodriguez of Adelante Productions. This movie is currently in pre-production, shooting in Galveston, Houston, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley. The crew had fun meeting their new brothers and sisters and getting to know each other. Lead Consideration for Feature Film "El Nacional"

Kayla is being considered for a lead role in "El Nacional". Kayla would play Angela Martinez (age 6), a vocal, emotional, and outspoken young girl in a family of 5. She is excited about the opportunity; however, there are two other young girls being considered and the director needs to narrow his pick based on their ability to be believable and be a part of a the controversial subject matter dealing with immigration. The film will be challenging with emotional ups and downs. The young director, Baldemar Rodgriguez, Adelante Productions, seems to be an emerging star based on his endorsements, passion for film, and his accolades in the Houston market and the emerging independent film scene.
